Charitable Giving
The CBA membership provided suggestions for the CBA’s annual donations to local charities. The following each received a donation of $1000:
- Almost Home Animal Shelter
- Blessings in a Backpack – Michigan
- Grace Centers of Hope
- Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center
- Stiggys Dogs
- The Detroit Pit Crew
- Pope John Hospitality House
- Alternatives for Girls
- Detroit Rescue Mission
- Sisters Acquiring Financial Empowerment
A $2,000 donation was made to the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center, Helping Hands Fund, in the name of Brenda Gehringer-Grima, long-time bankruptcy practitioner with the firm of Butler, Butler & Rowse-Oberle and wife of Joseph Grima, who lost a long battle with cancer on August 21, 2016, at the far too young age of 46. The Helping Hands Fund was designated as the recipient of donations in Brenda’s obituary, and the Board voted to make the donation in Brenda’s name and memory.

It is because of your generosity that COTS is able to help people regain self-sufficiency.

Your generosity allows MARL to keep our doors open and continue to provide care or assistance to 1,500 animals annually. This includes dogs or cats who rely on MARL as their last resort for a better life.
For 100 years, the generosity of supporters like you has allowed us to serve as a resource for healing and a leader in human services that deliver brighter futures. We are challenging fates challenged by autism, intellectual and physical disabilities, mental and physical health, abuse, and neglect.
